NITERIDER UNDERWATER IMAGING LIGHTS
New HID and LED Video Light Systems for 2009
NiteRider’s new 14w HID II Video Lights use the latest HID lamp technology that is twice as bright and twice as rugged as the previous 10w HID lamps. The new digital ballast is more efficient so that means more light and longer burn times per watt. A new low beam feature allows the HID to run at a 10w level when less light is needed for close up photography. The high beams at 14 watts X 2 produce 1600 lumens when diffused for photography. The HID II Dual Beam has high beams of 28 watts X 2 and produces 3200 lumens when diffused.
What to consider when chosing the correct light for the best possible image reproduction
In order to produce images with true color reproduction it is necessary to provide a light source that produces wavelengths that contain all the colors that the human eyes and brain can distinguish. This is called the visible spectrum. If all the colors in the visible spectrum are not present then the image is not going to be reproduced in its true natural state as seen in natural sun light. If unsaturated colors such as pink, and purple colors such as magenta are absent, for example, because they can only be made by a mix of multiple wavelengths then the image will not appear natural.
The color spectrum of NiteRider’s new HID II lamps are very white and produce a full range of wavelengths throughout the visible spectrum. This is a very important consideration when selecting an imaging light. Fluorescent lights produce light mainly in the green range and that is why they are not used for photography. LED lamps are much better than fluorescent lights but still they do not produce light evenly throughout the full range of the visible color spectrum. Tungsten lamps (most commonly known as Halogen lamps) produce light mainly in the red side of the color spectrum. Of all artificial light sources, NiteRider’s HID lamps produce light most evenly throughout the entire visible light spectrum. What this means to the photographer is that our HID lamps are the best for natural image reproduction. It gives the most natural looking images of all colors and without the need for filtration or editing. That is why HID lamps are so popular in the movie industry. They produce the most natural artificial lighting source available. |
